why choose an architect?
Our homes are likely our most valuable asset. They play an integral role in our physical and mental well-being.
They may become our school, and our workplace, as well as our kitchen and our refuge. The process of designing, building or extending your home may feel daunting at first. - Architects are expensive.

- Architect vs “Architectural”
The title ‘Architect’ is protected by law (Architects Act 1997), so that only those who are fully qualified can use it. There are several groups available that provide ‘architectural’ services, but companies styling themselves as ‘architectural’ designers (or similar) likely indicate that they are not qualified or registered architects operating unregulated, providing you with no guarantees of their ability to deliver the service you require. An accredited architect understands that there is much more to your project than simply “getting through planning”. Architects, like Catalyst Architects, provide a bespoke, tailored service to meet your design requirements, not just ticking the statutory boxes.
- My project doesn’t justify an Architect
A common misconception is that architects only deal with large grand designs. However even the smallest extension can benefit from the input of an architect, adding value to your investment and maybe even giving you an idea that you had never thought of.
RIBA Charted Practice
Catalyst Architects are proud to state we are registered as a Chartered Practice with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
A practicing architect must be registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB). This is the statutory body who by law oversee this. Additionally Catalyst Architects became a RIBA Chartered Practice, further demonstrating our commitment to delivering the highest professional, ethical and best practice standards in architecture.
The title ‘Architect’ is protected by law in the UK, under Section 20 of the Architects Act 1997. It can only be used in business or practice by someone who has had the education, training and experience.
